Growing up on a farm in Quebec’s Laurentians instilled Dr. Steven Fremeth with a methodical work ethic that would prove to serve him well as a dentist and dental surgeon. He earned a B.Sc. (Honours) and an M.Sc. in biology from Sir George Williams University (now Concordia University).
In 1973, while putting the finishing touches on his Masters thesis, Dr. Fremeth began his Doctorate in Dental Surgery (DDS) at McGill University.
After graduating in 1977, Dr. Fremeth went on to complete a residency in dentistry at Montreal’s Jewish General Hospital. With the experience of an intense hospital-based program, he was recommended to meet with the dental department’s director of the newly established Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). In 1978, Dr. Fremeth moved his family to Ottawa to join CHEO’s department of dentistry and establish a private practice.
Since 1978, Dr. Fremeth has built a strong reputation in the dental community with his work with children. He is especially proud of his ongoing work at CHEO where he provides dental care for special needs children who cannot be treated elsewhere. The vast majority of children he treats are referred to him by other dentists.
Since the beginning of his career, Dr. Fremeth has been an active member of the Canadian Dental Association (CDA), Ontario Dental Association (ODA) and the Ottawa Dental Society (ODS). Dr. Fremeth is also a member of the Pierre Fauchard International Academy of Dentistry, the Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity and the International College of Dentists.
Although Dr. Fremeth is classified as a general dentist, his primary focus and reputation is in the treatment of children. He divides his time between CHEO, the Ottawa Surgicentre, as well as his base location on Bank Street.
Dr. Fremeth is the only general dentist who routinely provides dental care to the special needs children in our community at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario. Dr. Fremeth has an established reputation in Ottawa area. Such care is provided in his main office on Bank Street. Sometimes a general anesthetic is required. In this case, Dr. Fremeth can admit your child to CHEO or the Ottawa Surgicentre to provide the needed care using a general anesthetic. Medical services in all cases are provided by a certified pediatric anesthesiologist as well as trained and experienced nursing staff.
A consultation at Dr. Fremeth's Office is required to determine the best option. No referral needed. Contact Us
